    When thinking about sustainable property development, one generally pictures green building techniques, renewable energy sources, and property management technologies.  However, there’s a significant and largely invisible but impactful component, which Chinachem Group has been utilising since 2019, and that’s green financing.

    Sustainable finance is a form of loan or investment that’s been created in a form to ensure a better environmental and social outcome.  These financial instruments are designed to be used for the development of green and social projects, the minimisation of climate impact on regular projects, or a combination of both.  And they’ve become a vital element in our fight against climate change.

Smarter Building Techniques

A pioneer in Hong Kong, Chinachem Group is utilising the highly sustainable Modular Integrated Construction (MiC) technique in the Tonkin Street Redevelopment project—marking a first for the city. In this approach, apartments are pre-formed and fully fitted out in a factory before being craned into position as complete units, with all essential services and infrastructure already in place.

 

This innovative method significantly reduces on-site waste, noise, manpower, and construction time—ultimately lowering costs. Additionally, with enhanced efficiencies and higher quality control in the factory setting, end users benefit from a more sustainable and affordable living environment.

  • Partnering with NAMI for Sustainable Building Protection

    Chinachem Group and NAMI have developed the Peelable Nano Protective Coating, a solvent-free, reusable solution that protects surfaces while reducing waste and costs. Unlike traditional wrapping, it allows natural light through, cutting energy use and environmental impact—offering a smarter, greener alternative for construction.

  • Partnering with PolyU to Drive Innovation

    Chinachem Group and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance collaboration between industry, academia, and research organisations, fostering innovative solutions for the sustainable development of the Greater Bay Area (GBA).

     

    This partnership combines PolyU’s expertise in interdisciplinary research with Chinachem’s experience in property and community development. Under the MoU, both parties will conduct three pilot research projects exploring innovative technologies and solutions to advance carbon neutrality, social inclusivity, and a green economy.
