Standing in front of a mural at Cho Yiu Chuen are groups of youngsters, who are deeply absorbed in a guided tour hosted by the Hong Kong Arts Centre. Among them is a duo interacting like siblings – the lady takes random snapshots of the younger student as they engage in a serious discussion about the artwork. Surprisingly, today is only the second time they have met.
When Jenny was in Secondary 6, she and her friends were awarded $100,000 by the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund. With the seed money, they founded LoKol Media, a social enterprise aimed at improving teenagers’ competitiveness through the provision of seminars and courses on online content creation in various schools. This hands-on experience sparked her interest in social innovation.

Reflecting on the students she works with, Jenny says, “I thought they were indifferent to social issues, but in fact they have many ideas in their mind and are well versed in technology and other disciplines.” When necessary, she takes the initiative to seek advice from other experts too. “The programme benefits not only the participants but also myself.”
