Shopping Malls under Chinachem Join Hong Kong Green Shop Alliance
06 July 2017
Chinachem Group is committed to sustainable development. In support of this commitment, three shopping malls under Chinachem have joined the “Hong Kong Green Shop Alliance.”
With the aim of promoting green shopping practices and sustainable development, the three Chinachem malls including Nina Tower, the shopping malls of Parc City and The Papillons (both still under construction) will incorporate green measures in their operations. Six aspects in particular will be targeted: better use of energy, better use of water, reduction of solid waste, reusing and recycling of materials, green procurement and green social behaviour.
The Hong Kong Green Shop Alliance is the first platform in Hong Kong to promote co-operation between shopping mall operators and tenants to go green, encouraging local shopping mall owners, operators, tenants and consumers to be more environmentally friendly and incorporate sustainable practices into their daily operations. Since the soft launch of the project last June, the Alliance has seen an increase from 3 to 91 participating shopping malls.
