Chinachem Group (“Chinachem”) today announced that Mr Donald Choi will retire from the Group and step down from his role as Chief Executive Officer, and the appointment of Mr Andy Cheung as his successor with effect from 1 September 2024.

Chinachem would like to express its gratitude to Mr Choi for his outstanding contribution and leadership over the past seven years to successfully transform and grow the business.

Mr Choi said, “Last July I announced my intention to retire in 2024. Plans to look for my successor were soon put into place. Driving the transformation of Chinachem has been the privilege of a lifetime. Despite the unprecedented difficulties due to COVID-19 epidemic and the structural changes of Hong Kong economy, we have performed well and grown our businesses to create value for our stakeholders and empower a more liveable and sustainable community. I am sure that Chinachem under the leadership of Mr Andy Cheung will continue to shine and reach new heights.”

Mr Cheung began his career in Canada, and has since moved into senior management positions in infrastructure investment, construction and engineering, and real estate investment. He has been an Independent Non-Executive Director of Chinachem Group since 2022. 

Prior to joining Chinachem Group, he was an Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of Link REIT (listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange), being a key part of the management that led the transformation and development of Link REIT. In addition, he was an Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer of Paul Y. Engineering Group Limited, and was an Executive Director of Hopewell Holdings Limited, both of which were also listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

Mr Cheung said, “I am excited to take on the role of CEO of Chinachem Group, and appreciate the success that Chinachem has achieved under the leadership of Donald. Our focus is to become a best-in-class real estate investment company building long-term value for our stakeholders and enhancing the communities we serve.”
