The French GourMay Market will be held from 7 to 10 June in the atrium of NINA MALL 1.

Riding on the success of the first phase of "Chinachem Celebrates French May,” Chinachem Group is bringing the celebration to its NINA MALL and Nina Park in Tsuen Wan starting from today (7 June). The two highlight programmes of the celebration – sustainability-themed dance performances and workshops, and the French GourMay Market – are set to fascinate the Tsuen Wan neighbourhood and other New Territories residents with a unique and refreshing mix of French lifestyle, cultural and arts experiences.

Chinachem aspires to bring prosperity to society and create a sustainable environment for all. The annual collaboration between Chinachem and French May Arts Festival embodies this aspiration – creating shared value for the community at large and enriching people's lives through the promotion of arts and culture.

The French GourMay Market will be held from 7 to 10 June in the atrium of NINA MALL 1, bringing wonderful delicacies from the Occitanie region of Southern France, in addition to a series of fun-filled activities. Southern France is known for its rich gastronomic heritage, thanks to the region’s fertile land and vibrant agriculture and livestock farming. The Occitanie region, the largest wine region in France accounting for one-third of the country’s production, is also the largest wine region in the world. The variety of climate and soils of the region produces wines with a wide range of aromas and flavours.

NINA MALL is conveniently located and easily accessible to residents of Tsuen Wan and adjoining districts who are looking to spend the weekend pampering their palates with fine wines and delicacies from Southern France. These include cheeses, cold dishes, lobster bisque, hand-made desserts, spreads and hams, as well as authentic French-made products such as perfumes.

Invited by Chinachem and French May Arts Festival, the French contemporary dance company KHAM will present their globally-toured Intrusion Chorègraphique, connecting the community through an interactive performance. Their choreographic creation is a combination of contemporary dances, hip-hop and traditional dances from Southeast Asia. In this touring performance, the dancers make full use of the surrounding environment to interact with the audience and use dance to echo the theme of sustainability.

Christile Drulhe, Consul-General of France in Hong Kong and Macau, says, “Visiting weekend markets is a must-do activity for families in France. It is a great opportunity to directly meet food and wine producers selling top-quality products to enjoy at home or on the spot. We are delighted to bring this experience to the residents of Hong Kong, in Tsuen Wan. I hope they will particularly enjoy the wines and delicacies from my home region Occitanie in the South of France!”

Mrs. Mignonne Cheng, Co-chairman of the Board of French May Arts Festival, remarks, "This partnership is particularly important to us, as it represents the true diversity of our Festival. Each year, the blend of arts and gastronomy allows Chinachem Group, French GourMay and French May to showcase their common goal. We truly cherish this relationship."

Having captivated the audience at Chinachem's NINA MALL today, KHAM are now ready to bring this awe-inspiring work to Nina Park from 8 to 9 June, alongside an immersive dance workshop. After enjoying gastronomic delights at the French GourMay Market, visitors can take a relaxing stroll to Nina Park to enjoy the performance by KHAM and participate in their workshop. Home to the largest existing collection of wood fossils in Asia, Nina Park is an urban oasis with meticulous landscape design, offering visitors a hassle-free environment to spend their spare time.

Interested parties can sign up for these workshops on the dedicated Festival webpage at https://www.frenchmay.com/en-us/article/337.
