Chinachem Group is joining forces with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra for the second year to present the "One Beat, One World: Connecting Through the Drum" drumming series as part of the Hong Kong Drum Festival. Through the power of music, the Group aims to inject positive energy into society.

This year's "One Beat, One World: Connecting Through the Drum" series commenced last week with a CCG Hearts Concert at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Concert Hall.  Our collaboration with the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra for this series last year was uplifting and brought together individuals from all walks of life. We are excited to continue our partnership this year and welcome the participation of Mind The Waves, an organisation founded by Hong Kong Olympic swimmers Stephanie Au, Camille Cheng and Jamie Yeung, which will focus on the mental well-being of young people through various drumming activities. Through active collaborations such as these with different organisations in the community, we aim to create positive value for society.

Supported by the Hong Kong Tourism Board, the "One Beat, One World: Connecting Through the Drum" series encompasses a wide range of public activities, expanding in scale from the previous year. These activities include drum training and performances across the 18 districts, involving not only children, teenagers and the elderly but also ethnic minorities, young people in custody, and participants of the Strive and Rise Programme. Training will be provided by instructors appointed by the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, and performance videos will be filmed at various scenic locations to promote cultural tourism.

The main event will be the "One Beat, One World: Connecting Through the Drum" Carnival and 5G Live Concert on 8 December at West Kowloon Cultural District Art Park. Apart from drumming, dance elements will be integrated, featuring Intangible Cultural Heritage Drum Groups from the Mainland, local tap dance and street dance teams, and renowned drumming masters from South Korea, Malaysia, China’s Xinjiang Province, and India. Various local entities including Correctional Services Department, Chinachem, Watsons Group and the Strive and Rise Programme will also present drum performances to engage Hong Kong residents and tourists. In addition the Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra will collaborate with consulates in Hong Kong to present their countries' cuisines and cultures, showcasing Hong Kong's vibrancy as an event hub and boosting the economy. It is hoped these initiatives will further reinforce the city's international standing as an events capital.

Other captivating activities of the "One Beat, One World: Connecting Through the Drum" series include Percussion Workshops at Central Market and Chinachem's shopping malls, as well as Tai Chi health workshops at Nina Hotel.
