Understanding the interior space and fully utilising its advantages is how Enoch, who was trained as an architect, approaches his designs. Particularly for this project, his observation of space extends way beyond the dining area. “As you walk from 1/F of Nina Mall to 2/F and then enter the restaurant, the ceiling gradually rises, leading you to Nina Park located just outside the restaurant. The progression is truly beautiful.” Through the three doors on the side, customers can easily access the outdoor terrace and Nina Park, Hong Kong’s first and only wood fossil park.

With over 20 years of experience in the industry, Enoch derives great joy in tailoring bespoke designs for the numerous commercial projects under his belt. However, managing a fossil-themed space is a first for him. To get to know the relic from its formation to distinctive features like colour and pattern, his team not only visited Nina Park for an up-close study of its extensive collection, but also travelled all the way to Chaoyang in Liaoning Province to see fossil exhibits.
Wood fossils, which take millions of years to form, are like books that tell stories of geology. Drawing inspiration from their timeless nature, Enoch created an inverted flower bouquet on the ceiling, mimicking the making of preserved flowers, to pay tribute to the valuable heritage in the adjacent Nina Park. Enoch goes on to share, “The restaurant is an extension of Nina Park. I believe it can enrich visitor experience.”
